What is your favorite work of art? What do you love about it?
My favorite work of art is entitled, The Saving Mountains, by myself. It represents my life changing experience in Bouvier, Haiti. The piece is an 18 inch by 24 inch acrylic painting on canvas with bold and bright colors and patterns. Of course, it's an abstract piece because... well most of my work is abstract. I appreciate the beauty of the challenge and the opportunity to have new things revealed. That is exactly what Bouvier did for me.

Bouvier opened my mind, my soul and my heart to a new way of life. My trip to Bouvier touched my spirit, while my physical being was being tested. The wavering of my thoughts proved to me that I was weak, but I felt blessed to have accomplished the journey. I felt closer to God up in those mountains, and I was humbled.

A 12 hour trek up three mountains and thru three rivers to reach a small school building that services 120 the most beautiful children, coming from nothing to receive an education from seven of the most diligent people that I have met. It was empowering and inspiring to feel so small amidst the mountains that were so large and so captivating.
Hopefully, my painting does for somebody else what Bouvier did for me. The Saving Mountains currently hang at my grandparents' house. I presented it to my Poppy last year as a gift. I love this painting because it reminds me to remain humble, to stay calm and to take my time. They say "Rome wasn't built in a day." That applies to all aspects of my life. Keep the faith and allow God to order my steps the way He did in the mountains. I thought I was going to die and God renewed my heart and my spirit.
