Life's Little Pleasures

Welcome Back

It has been such an exciting year for me, full of opportunity and change. Not only did I develop in several personal aspects, but I grew professionally as well. I moved to Haiti for six months and tested myself and my abilities. I worked my butt off to make effective change for deserving people and finding ways to change lives. It was the most rewarding experience of my life, to date. So shout out to God for holding me down in ways that I had never imagined. Haiti was a phenomenal time, good and bad experiences alike. I had time to learn and time to re-evaluate what I want out of life.

This will be my last post of the year. I've been thinking and trying to figure out why I haven't been writing, but I realized that I'm busy taking in experience. I'm not making the video I planned on making, at least not now, so please enjoy the visual story of my return! Happy Holidays, with Love!
Now, I'm back in the states and I'm excited to be here. Coming home was very special for me because I know it meant a lot to my family! I planned with Titziana for months to execute the perfect surprise and didn't leave any room for mistakes. I gave the same lies to everybody about when I was returning. I tiptoed around my parents, asking the right questions and causing just the right amount of speculation. It was flawless and very much worth it. To be in the arms of my parents and to see my grandparents smile meant the world to me.
My cousins and I had a chance to bond, which was nice because we don't speak too often. Our family has been shaky for a while and we're all mentally over family functions, but sometimes, we all manage to keep it together and enjoy each other's company. Christmas Eve was one of those nights. My aunt made great food, we made drinks, listened to music and danced! It was a great feeling, one that I will honestly cherish!
I spent two days with Ziaa, Ma Fiona and LaikaJayy beforehand... we shopped, we cooked, we binge watched and just enjoyed a couple of free days. I felt safe. I ate pizza and made meals that I haven't had in the past six months. I realized that little things matter. I missed small stuff like italian sausage and almond milk. I missed salad, like with spinach! Ziaa and I went to the Tabernacle to see 6lack (I was disappointed that J. Cole didn't show up)!

So then there was Christmas; a huge dinner at Titziana's apartment (proof that we're both big girls)! Planned and coordinated TO THE T, we and our guests were satisfied. The gift exchange, the food, the bonding were all moments of great excitement for me as I was able to watch my family rejoice.

I'm spending my time in peace and in love, reminiscing on all that 2018 has blessed me with and preparing for the blessings of the New Year! Thanks for journeying with me and for witnessing my growth. I appreciate your love, your support and for being here with me through all of the ups and downs. Stay tuned and I'll see you in 2019!
