Next, we find ways to diminish and destroy the woman that we feel is successful. We do not take into account her story or how she got to where she is. We just know that some way, some how, she is better and that makes us feel small. It makes us feel inadequate, unaccepted and unable to acquire better things for ourselves. All of these negative feelings of hate, jealousy, loathing and self pity arise within us and our souls grow darker and darker. But why? I'll tell you. Many women, despite their upbringing, were taught that we can only aspire to be as good as the man standing next to us. We were taught from early on that this life is a death defying competition; kind of like The Hunger Games. We were taught that we must fight for our lives to get the best man, the best job, the best house, and anything else that we desire. We must be beautiful, talented, well mannered, pleasant, humble, poised, skinny, ladylike and graceful at all times. But remember, you must also be firm, head strong and clear in the same breath. Then, we must keep in mind that men want women who are funny, fun to be around, know how to cook, be good with children, smart, caring, great listeners, who keep their hair and nails done, and wear nice clothes. We must remain silent, stable, adaptable and able to take whatever is handed to us. As soon as the world's load starts to get a little heavy and our knees shake as we stand in our heels, we are viewed as weak, unfit and undeserving. Our men cheat. Our boss replaces us. Life goes on and we are still there, feeling like less than what we are; unable to see our true value. But wait, there's more! We then listen to other women tell us that we have to empower and enable ourselves. Build yourself up because no man is going to do it for you. Speak volume and abundance into our own lives. Work hard and kick ass to get the things that we truly desire. We are told later that we can be whatever or whoever we wish to be as long as we are diligent. We fall out of the trap and hold of men and societal double standards. We learn that we are who we are because of our own work that other people have been taking credit for our entire lives. Not our parents who raise us to be well behaved, or our teachers who mold us into A students. We stop praising our boyfriends who teach us how to be fun and ignore the media which shows us how to be sexy. We begin to claim what is rightfully ours and right when we begin to shine, here comes a woman who has not been enlightened yet, ready to dim our light. This mindset and ideology, ladies, must be and can only be changed by us! We are powerful. Our words and minds our powerful. Our existence is powerful! So let's use that to our advantage and to help other women shine. It is okay if we are not in the same space as another. Everything that God has ordained for us is for us and will come when He has put our blessings in motion However, while we wait, we must remain steadfast and be each other's number one fans. We must uplift ourselves and other women alike. We must ignore bitter feelings and be positive in their success. We have to be mindful and remember that we are one in the same. We are all beautiful and have so much to offer the world, but if we spend our time knocking each other down, we will never take the time to truly develop ourselves or to reach our full potential. Love yourself. Love your flaws. Love your potential. Love who you are! Love the women on your team! Women are destined for greatness. We provide life, so let's speak life amidst each other! It is necessary for survival. It is crucial to our existence. Let's speak life for each other. Let's grow together! Let's learn from one another. Let's learn for one another! Only then will the cycle change and our chains be broken. Only then will we be able to love ourselves completely and raise up little girls to be strong and powerful women! Let's be women who support other women! Life is an awful place to not have a band of women by your side, making boss moves like real bosses do!
Have an amazing day, Beauties! Alyssa Renee
