pressure, there were two doctors to speak to that would gather information and prescribe medications. There was an oxygen tank available that some people needed, and my favorite part, reading glasses. It was amazing to watch people try on glasses who really needed them and attempt to read passages in a book. “No, I cannot see,” or “No, these do not work,” were sad things to hear, but eventually, everybody said “Yes, I can see! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

12:23pm The past couple of days have been very busy. We are preparing for Reg’s brother to come from Philadelphia. He is bringing his family and a missionary team with him. To get ready for his arrival, we have been cleaning the guest house and the main house, and also, painting. We have brought up tables to accommodate 10 extra people per meal and are still doing the other work as well. When the team gets here, we will be preparing to run a medical clinic here in Carrefour, and then we will travel back to Cavaillon to host a medical clinic for the community there. Johanne And I prepared bags of school supplies for every student that attended the vacation Bible school classes. There are about 130 students there in all and each one will receive a stack of notebooks, a box of pens, pencils, and crayons, a sharpener, a ruler and an eraser. I believe that is to last them through the school year. Although it was a lot of work and several trips to the store to get enough supplies for every bag, it is well worth it. The church here should be very proud of the funds that they raised to support these children.
PSA: First things first, I am writing every day but cannot post every day as much as I would like to. I will not be able to get on social media and say something every day, but I will do what I can, when I can. I promised photo and video, so that will happen when it is possible to do so. So please, check back from time to time. Subscribe. Journey with me! Now, let's get started! Oh, oh, and all the pictures and videos do not go along exactly with what I am writing. I can take videos more easily than I can post updates. We all have to deal with it.
I have traveled to Haiti one time prior to this six month stay. It was in September of 2017 and it was only a 10 day visit. I have decided to come and live from July until the end of the year. In that time, I will be teaching ESOL classes and working with a number of adults, children and families in many capacities, but I will be adapting and embracing a culture that is far different than my own. I, in no way, believe that I am an expert on Haiti. I’ve done some research, and yes, I know some facts, but that is it. In the next six months, I will become well rounded and well versed in the language, the country, the people, etc. I will do some traveling and explore the many wonders of Ayiti and will gain a better understanding of how things work here. When American people think of Haiti, they think of a desolate third world country that is to be feared. However, I know that it is so much more than that.
Why is it that we forget that the United States is comprised of 50 unique states that each have so much to offer? Sometimes, it is not about catching flights and stamping passports, but simply about hopping in the car and going somewhere new. A weekend away truly does keep your soul at bay.
To All of My Supporters, I would just like to take the time to say thank you! So many of you have pushed me and encouraged me to never give up and to dream dreams bigger than I could have imagined. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for believing in me. It is because of people like you that have inspired me over time that I am so able to accomplish great things. I have been truly blessed and I am highly favored. As I prepare to take on God's mission in my life and to fulfill my purpose, I ask that you continue to encourage me and to pray for me. Be there for me when I feel the world is against me and root for me when I am under attack. As I begin to answer my calling, I am willingly allowing for God's light to shine through me. I have asked Him to use me and He has answered my prayers! So thank you. I love you. May God bless you, keep you and bring you to the next level of your life! Godspeed, Alyssa Renee
