Another Day, Another Blessing

Last night was a rough night. Everybody that stayed in the hotel ended up coming back to the house because there was problems. The water wasn’t running and lizards were falling from the ceiling. I understand that’s stressful, but think about it. 32 of us rode to Cavaillon together in three separate cars. Also, people live here, so finding places for everybody to sleep was rough. Betty and I went to Reg’s cousin’s house and left to commotion. On top of there being 1,000 people in the house, the generator would not turn on so there was no power. My phone and camera have been dead for 24 hours now.
Today, despite my spider bite and stomach cramps, was a good day. Another medical clinic in Cavaillon was successful. It’s exciting to see so many people in need, get help! We distributed shoes and clothes to the children at VBS today and it was completely unorganized, but joyous overall! They were so excited to try on new shoes! They yelled and screamed and enjoyed themselves.

After the clinic, of course, we jumped in the river. It’s nice when everybody gets In together. For the past two days, I was the photographer, but today, Ronald was here. He showed up right on time with an extra camera and three charged batteries. IT’S LIT! I didn’t have to record everybody today. I got to chill until it was time for Johanne and I to organize the school bags, AGAIN! I’m ready for this giveaway to be complete. Doing good things for people should not be so stressful.

OJ took me, Mariettta, Ariel and Ronald to explore the village. We stopped at the print shop and then to get fried shrimp and fish with plaintains. There’s nothing like a good on the street spot to get food. Ziaa hates that I love ghetto chicken spots! Sheesh, kind of miss her!

Overall, I didn’t do much today, but it was a good day. I’m starting to feel really comfortable and trying to learn the language. That, alone, is a good thing.
